Cooley Studios is an atelier (private art school) committed to teaching drawing and painting to anyone interested in learning. Whether you are a beginner with no experience, intermediate with some experience or more experienced and wanting to increase your artistic knowledge and ability, Cooley Studios will help you. We offer classical art training in our full-time atelier program to students seeking to become professional artists. For those not seeking a professional art career, we offer a series of ongoing monthly art classes and workshops.
Our full-time atelier program is different from other art schools and University fine art departments in that we study exclusively from the time honored curriculum of the 19th century European ateliers system, specifically the French ateliers. This system emerged from the practices of the 15th century Renaissance apprenticeships which produced some of the greatest fine art masters to date. Our curriculum takes 3 years to complete and students can choose to stay a 4th year for masters study. For more information on the atelier program, click here.
Cooley Studios is also an artist service center. We accept commissions for portraits, fine art works and medical and scientific illustration assignments.
